I crossed one finish line, now the next.

With 17 minutes remaining, the attorney appeared in the doorway and handed me a draft Development Agreement which astonished my boss as he was poised to confront me. Extending his hand he congratulated me for being a "bulldog" and seeing this project through and acknowledged the stress to achieve my goal. It's amazing how I went from a goat, being ridiculed in a staff meeting to being a star. He should have known all along I keep my word.

Well, after these weeks, the race should seem like a breeze after what I been through. I noted my weight is down to 150 or slightly less which is good enough to press myself during the race. Ideally, 142 is the goal but that will wait until P.F. Chang's in January. How many pant sizes can I drop? It's hard enough to find at 30 1/2" by 30" already. Short man's shop in my future?

Bags are packed and I'm ready to leave on my 11:30 a.m. flight to Oakland where we grab the Bart to Union Square and stay at Sir Francais Drake Hotel. I'm trying to take a lesson learned by Bruce that I can wait to be a tourist after the race then indulge in the food and beer. From here on out, it is nothing but bland foods. After the race though, watch out! I hear there is a famous doughnut shop near Union Square -- chocolate fry cakes? YUM!

I decided to purchase a shirt at the event, perhaps a Wearyourracenumber.com shirt if the fabric is light weight and technical. I won't be carrying a water bottle which may or may not be my downfall as I've run with one for the past 3 years and always felt the gatorade infusion at mile 22 or 23 eased my cramps. My weapon this time-- a first for me. I'm running with an Ipod shuffle and my playlist has slow songs for the first 2 to the 3 miles. In this manner, I hope to slow my pace and delay the obligatory start line song"It's a Beautiful Day" by U2 until mile 3 or 4.

Talk to you later!

I'm happy someone has learned from my tapering mistake of being a tourist and eating different and exotic foods before the race!
